About FFTR

Forum for Trade Remedies or FFTR, is a pan India Association registered under Societies registration act 1860. FFTR has been formed to supplement the efforts of various stakeholders and provide whatever support is needed by them in matters related to trade defence measures viz (Anti-dumping, safeguard and Countervailing), foreign trade policy, free trade agreements and other international trade/ policy issues.

FFTR aims is to promote the interests of Indian manufacturing sector in terms of domestic and international legal frameworks and policies in International Trade. Further, it aims at providing support to the Government through discussions and sharing views of the industry, thereby, promoting interest of Indian manufacturing sector.

Through continuous and untiring support of the members, we shall be able to assist the authorities as and when required in shaping future legal frameworks and policies.

It’s main Objective:

  1. To promote the interests of Indian manufacturing sector.
  2. It hold interactions with Govt. authorities, industry bodies on various trade remedial measures (TRM) and issues concerning rules, regulations, policies, procedures, practices with the aim of bringing positive changes in the policy framework.
  3. Creation of level playing field and furthering the cause of the domestic industry for increasing effectiveness of TRM.
  4. FFTR assists Indian industry in facing trade defence action taken by other member countries of WTO, by creation & maintenance of data base, monitoring of trade defence actions taken by various countries, actively assisting Indian industry in case of a trade defence action taken by a country against Indian exports.
  5. Forum will also assist in defending the interests of Indian manufacturing sector on various legal issues.

At present FFTR is having more than 100 members form different Associations and Industries.

Mission

Forum for Trade Remedies (FFTR) was conceived with the Objective of promoting the interest of Indian Manufacturing sector in terms of domestic and International legal frameworks and policies in international Trade and considering that there is a need for uniting the Industry to contest and address the common issues concerning the Industry with regards to efficacy, efficiency, effectiveness of trade defence instruments such as Anti-Dumping, Anti-Subsidy and Safeguards.

VISION

FFTR has been formed to supplement the efforts of various stakeholders and provide whatever support is needed by them in matters related to trade defence actions, foreign trade policy, free trade agreements and other international trade/ policy issues. FFTR publishes a Newsletter which tracks latest development in the field of trade defence action. The newsletter also includes information on developments in the area of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and Foreign Trade Policies (FTPs).

The Forum holds meetings on various issues concerning trade remedial measures where the issues of general interests are discussed and taken up with the Govt. authorities. The Forum will also organize workshops and interactive sessions.

GOAL

It aims at providing support to the Government through discussions and sharing views of the industry, thereby, promoting interest of Indian manufacturing sector. Through continuous and untiring support of the members, we shall be able to assist the authorities as and when required in shaping future legal frameworks and policies”

The Forum will also assist in defending the interests of Indian manufacturing sector on various legal issues.

I am glad to state that a pan India Association, namely, Forum for Trade Remedies, (FFTR), was established in 2015 in Delhi. FFTR was set up to highlight the issues faced by the Domestic Industry in matters related to trade defence measures viz (Anti-dumping, Safeguard and Countervailing), Foreign Trade Policy, Free Trade Agreements and other International Trade/ Policy issues.

FFTR is also providing support to the Government through discussions and sharing views of the industry and thereby promoting interest of Indian manufacturing sector. Through continuous and untiring support of its members, FFTR is also able to assist the authorities as and when required in shaping future legal frameworks and policies. Domestic Industry is exhorted to make use of FFTR in helping the domestic industry to benefit from the legal recourse available to them in trade defence measures.

Forum for Trade Remedies, FFTR is formed on July 6th, 2015 is a pan India Association registered under Societies registration act 1860.

It was formed to promote the interests of Domestic Industries of India. The main objective for its formation is to hold interactions with Government authorities, industry bodies on various trade remedial measures (TRM) and issues concerning rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and practices with the aim of bringing positive changes in the policy framework.

FFTR, assists Indian industry in facing trade defence action taken by other member countries of WTO, by creation & maintenance of data base, monitoring of trade defence actions taken by various countries, actively assisting Indian industry in case of a trade defence action taken by a country against Indian exporters. It also assists in defending the interests of Indian manufacturing sectors on various legal issues.

I would like to make it clear that, FFTR has not been formed to confront with the Govt. or to raise grievances before the Govt. FFTR has been formed to supplement the efforts of various stakeholders and provide whatever support is needed by them and make the industrial sector aware of the policy provisions, new development particularly FTAs. Our aim is to assist the authorities in shaping the future trade policy.
